Volunteer Opportunities
Check out our list of volunteer opportunities below for the many ways in which you can help the animals by volunteering your time.
Fosters provide temporary housing for pets waiting adoption. Some pets need to recover or rehabilitate from illness, injury, abuse or neglect, while others just want a loving home while their forever person finds them. To apply, visit our Foster Care Program page.
Dog Walker
Provide socialization and play time for dogs awaiting adoption. Walks, leash trains, exercises and gives very basic obedience training, preparing them to become loving companions in their forever home.
Cat Caretaker/Attendant
Help socialize cats in our cattery. Provide love, attention, petting and basic grooming while they await their permanent home.
Satellite Cat Caretaker
Work directly with the Satellite Adoption Manager to assist with the care of cats at our satellite adoption centers (Pet Supermarket & Petco). This may include feeding and giving water to the cats, cleaning habitats, and socialization. Adoption responsibilities require additional training and approval of Satellite Adoption Manager and Director of Operations.

Help to make copies, file, put together adoption packets and other administrative task.Transporter
Help transport animals to and from Suncoast Humane Society as part of our cooperative program with other shelters to find more animals forever homes. Other transporting opportunity is to deliver and pick up donated pet supplies from our local partners (example: pet supply stores when they host donation drives), and/or fundraising/ marketing (examples: flyers, donated items for fundraising events.)Outreach and Education
Assist with educational exhibits at community expos or other type events, prompting the programs of the Society.
Volunteer ApplicationYou are the first sign of smiles on campus! Your duties involve greeting the public and directing them to the proper place inside our campus.
Help to further the mission of Suncoast Humane Society by generating revenue at our thrift stores. Accept quality items for sale, sort, assist with displaying the merchandise, and/or be a salesperson. All proceeds serve to help the services, programs and animals. Teams of qualified canines and their owners provide compassionate interaction with residents of hospitals, health care facilities, schools, libraries and special need requests. Qualifying requires extensive training and evaluation.
Use your marketing skills for promoting, fundraising and providing hands-on assistance at our events. This may include helping to solicit donations, sponsorships, handing out flyers and engaging on social media. Assist at the fundraising events with set up, staffing and break down.
